Ladies On Mars DJ Bio - Sneaky Disco

After coming to our attention with the recent Boogie on Time EP, Jonathan Braverman aka Ladies On Mars supplied us with an energetic and uptempo set for the guest mix of the EP109 Sneaky Disco show. We were also lucky enough to ask him a few questions about his history in house music, his background and what the future may hold.

Hailing from Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires Argentina, Ladies On Mars is not your average Bar/Club Dj and producer. He draws inspiration from, and plays, a variety of styles ranging from Nu Disco, Disco, Funk, House and sometimes tech house

Drawing on his love of music, Ladies On Mars cites Michael Jackson as a huge inspiration. It wasn’t just his music, it was his dancing and his personality that he loved, which added to his overall style - making Jonathan see him as the king of music. His electronic music loves include artists such as: Purple Disco Machine, Mousse T and Michael Gray (Full Intention) who he sees as his guides within the house music scene. As far as labels are concerned he loves Midnight Riot and Glitterbox, stating that every release is a bomb! He also loves some releases on Tropical Velvet, Tropical Disco and Masterworks Music and Club Sweet

Whilst speaking about the music scene, we asked Jonathan if he had a favourite bar or club that he likes to frequent or has visited a lot growing up. He made the excellent point that it is very difficult to have a favourite venue and, in fact, he didn’t have one as every Bar/club has their own magic, depending on “the feelings, the spirits of the people, at the location”. We personally feel that music enhances peoples’ feelings and lifts spirits and we’re sure Jonathan provides this with his residency at Negroni Madero, a Top Bar at Puerto Madero and also Work bar which is one of the best gay Bar/Club’s in Buenos Aires. Jonathan also recently played at the 2GHTR party in Buenos Aries with the Festa Bros. The best venues he has DJ’d at are the Kit Kat Club (Berlin) 2015, and he has also played at Gay Pride Buenos Aires in 2017 for 100,000 people, which he admits was a bit crazy!

Jonathan has been a prolific producer since his first release ‘Sex Machine’; produced on Reason back in 2006! He was a big fan of Compact and Poker Flat, back then so it was a different sound to that we are used to today. The track he is most proud of is ‘Boogie On Time’, which we highly recommend and vouch for as we have featured the track in one of our previous Sneaky Disco episodes.

In the near future he has two releases on the way (they are intact promos on Traxsource now), these are ‘Hold On’ released on Tropical Velvet, and ‘Somebody to love’ on Sakura Music . These are hot on the back of ‘My Heart Belongs to You ‘ & ‘King of Disco’ on Sleazy G and also a tech house style release called ‘Dirty Trick’ on DSR Dance Selection Records showing his adaptability to different music styles.

What does the future hold?

Jonathan hopes that one day he will play at a “Glitterbox Party” as he thinks it is one of the best parties around the world and, with releases like he has been putting out recently, we personally think it is only a matter of time! There are many more releases on the way and hopefully a European tour on the horizon.

Check out Jonathan’s guest mix for the Sneaky Disco show - It starts approximately 1 hour into the show, after Good2Grooves mix.

Jonathan is also a keen contributor to the music scene often posting chats and reviews, check out his recent Traxsource chart:

Review: Midnight Riot - Church EP

Its been a while since we reviewed some music so what better way to get back into the groove of it with a review of the latest release from the Midnight Riot Label. Dubbed by Juno Download as a "fine compilation from Midnight Riot and "gospel supremo" the Showfa, which gathers together new, recent and overlooked gospel-fired dancefloor jams".  We found this EP to be one of the best releases on the label by a country mile and that's saying something! Andy and the gang really have delivered here - Each track is sufficiently different to get its own independent release while fitting to the conformity of the objective of the Church Gospel theme.

The EP has some corking releases with no fillers - Yam Who and Alan Dixons remix of the Soup Dragons "I'm Free" is one that will be played on numerous dancefloors across the country, Whilst Amp Fiddler drops yet another cracking track. The EP has numerous Heavyweights on the scene doing what they do best such as Dr Packer, Natasha Kitty Katt, Jack Tennis, Ziggy Phunk, Alan Dixon and many More.

For us, this combined the boogie groove of disco and edits with the gospel and soulful house scene that we both grew up on. The following tracks feature on this week's sneaky disco show

(Available Here: Sneaky Disco EP84 Feat Derek Kaye )

The High Fidelity - Ithanku (Hifi Sean & Yam Who? dub)

Benjamin Ferreira - What U Will

Soup Dragons - I'm Free
